This would be the first personal update I have posted online in months. There is a lot to cover, but I am not interested in boring my readers so I will cover it quickly.
First, I moved to Portland (for those who don't know). My aspirations haven't changed much, but I am now employed at Louisiana Pacific Corporation.
I am getting married in October. For those of you who are invited, I can't wait to see you there. For those of you who haven't received invitations fear not. I haven't sent invitations as of yet.
With the quarter finally over, I am concentrating on some of the things I have been trying to accomplish personally. As with most things, I don't have much time. What is likely to show up in the future? My personal website is in the process of development to which I hope to complete within the next two or three days. This site will not necessarily replace this blog, but will provide a location to release the projects I intend on releasing. Of course, more posting is required. I haven't put forth enough effort as of late to this blog, and I apologize to my readers. We will see how things go.
As the title implies, the trip through California continued. With the pacific ocean to our left, we traveled the coast up highway 101 from Palm Springs, across Los Angeles, and up to San Luis Obispo. The trip definitely seemed pretty as we shot from desert to mountain to coast. The day here will consist of a few activities as I prepare for the 2300 mile drive from here to Lansing, Michigan.
This quarter has probably been the most stressfull. So when the quarter finally drew to a close, we knew travelling was in order. dusda and I drove from the great SLC to Palm Springs again. The best part of the drive is undoubtably going through Vegas. The weather is finally 80 degrees, the lights are shining, the windows are down, and the problems float away with the realization that the quarter is over. We happily made it and I am planning on driving from here to mid California, then on to Michigan. I will keep everyone posted (no pun intended).
When thinking about it, I think the difference is passion. Not passion for the outcome. Not passion for the goal. Passion for making a difference in the current existence. Passion for the attempt at understanding and striving to know more than what is physically possible. This ends up super seeding the current situation, and eventually leads to problems. However, the confidence within will always outweigh the confidence of those without the passion. There is my justification. For everyone reading this in confusion, try and interpret this in your own life. As for me, I need some sleep.
After my break in Michigan to which I didn't post anything, I am back in school. The classes are decent, and this quarter appears to be better then last. *shrugs* We will see what it has to offer.
As for TorrentVolve? The project has sort of exploded. There have been many downloads since I went on break, and vancottt has posted some nice updates. We were going to try and have a full time team dedicated again this quarter, but it didn't work out for now. However, I will be personally placing more requested features into the system and so will the current developers. Look for more and enjoy what is there.
vancottt and I are trying to figure out if the volume of an elephant can fit within the cargo area volume of an H2. However, we couldn't locate any statistics as to the volume or volume integral of a standard elephant in order to do the calculations. If anyone has any information regarding the volume or volume integral of an elephant, please post a comment.
I know it has been a long time since my last update. Things have been a little more then hecktic. My schedule consists of:
8 to 8:30 Monday
8 to 7:30 Tuesday
8 to 5 Wednesday with kempo practice 8 to 9
8 to 7:30 Thursday
8 to 5 Friday with kempo practice 6 to 6:30
And this is all before homework :S. I am also a little behind schedule as a result of my having to format my laptop to contain a dual boot of linux to test my open source project (Which I will probably get into in a future post). So much too do and so little time. So realistically I don't have much of a "Personal Update" per say because I don't have much of a personal life. All in all though I am excited about some of the events in the future. I will keep everyone informed as much as possible as I go.
Well I found a town with free wifi, and here I am. 1200 miles into the
trip, and I don't know where I am going. Well I know where I am going,
but I don't know the address. Fortunately, the trusty Internet will
guide me where I need to go.
Recap. Yesterday was a fairly long day. I took my CS360 final that covered: COM+, Remoting, Message Queuing, Web Services, routing, and WSE3 Security policies. did alright on the written part, and got a 100% on the coding portion. Then I did a demo of mine and dusda's XNA assignment to our DirectX professor. That went pretty well also. The cool part, however, was the insane amount of feedback from the students when we let people play it in the student commons. Fortunately, we actually made a game that people replayed and switched off with one another. The remainder of the day was spent with my car. She was running poorly so I cleaned up the engine bay, changed the oil, swapped out some spark plugs, and fixed all the warning lights. Then another long night... this time for packing for the trip to Michigan.
Today was my final final. Mathmatics is not my strong suit although I
am very interested in it. I just haven't done enough. So I was happy to
get a 100% on the exam and finally end this quarter. What is ahead? 26
hours of driving.
